Easy way to turn Firefox proxy settings on/off via command line?

I have grown to despise having to turn on/turn off the proxy through Firefox’s about:preferences tab. Is there any way to do this via command line?

Have you tried the foxyproxy extension? You can configure various profiles and white/black lists so that only IPs in a defined range get sent through the proxy. Its not cli but much more convenient than manually adjusting via prefs.

Foxyproxy is the way to do it. Click on the icon in the toolbar, select your proxy (or no proxy). Easier even then bouncing out to a commandline.

Alternatively, you can write a proxy auto-configuration file.
