fun box
i felt so stupid after getting root

Never mind, I found what I missed (I need to learn how to search vuln…)

I spent faaaaaaaar too long with the commands for root, great learning though!

Knocked out initial access and user easy. Can’t figure out how to get root. I understand the basic idea, but I can’t get any changes to actually stick

■■■ nevermind it worked. I just had the timing wrong.

Hey. I have the root flag but it says wrong flag in htb. pls help

Just rooted. I’m confused as to why my initial idea didn’t work. Namely, why does a symlink to something in /etc work but not a symlink to the script itself (which gives the “sorry, not a file” error)?

Is there a way to leverage this file to set the desired permissions on a script I create? I spent ages trying to do this until it clicked that I should try and edit something more… consequential.

Very fun box.

I think i had a similar problem, and managed to find another approach, similarly to you. I was confused why my first idea did not work, but later found out why.

Check what operation is performed underneath when you try to execute your original idea. Check specifically what error occurs, im pretty sure its not the one you mentioned. Then check what causes that operation to return that error.

Trying to be the most vague to not spoil anything to anyone, but hope that helps, it sure helped me understand.

bruh this was me, made it way harder than it needed to be

I only used the hints from this forum too which tickles me pink.

When it clicked I thought it would ruin things for others then I found out why it wouldn’t so I did it.

Nah, that dude seems to live the platform, but someone managed to pass him on the leaderboard currently as i comment

Pwned, nice box btw

Hi, I’m just your average noob here, I’m adding the subdomain to the /etc/hosts file, but when I try to access it, it rerouts me to permx.htb. What am I doing wrong?

Ive managed to get system flag but am stuck for a silly long time trying to get root. I’ve found the script that I can elevate. ive attempted ***links but I just cant see what im doing wrong, would anyone be able to help me please?

10.10.11.23 permx.htb

^ would be your entry. If youre still having issues, you havent searched enough

You can give yourself write permissions to important files

That was my entry. I’ll try again later, maybe there was an issue with the machine.

I finally pwnd it after taking a break, I was being a noob and blind earlier on

Is there something special I am supposed to be doing with the php reverse shell syntax? Everytime I follow the PoC of the vulnerability it just returns the contents of the reverse shell file?
