Hello! Im pretty new to hack the box and ethical hacking in general so I apologise for any noob questions.

I am stuck in the Linux Fundamentals module of the academy. On the Find files and directories, I am sure that I am putting in the correct answers but they come up as wrong. I won’t put my answer here (due to spoilers) but I do have one question that may help me.

Are we looking for the config file in our instance or the htb-student account that we can SSH to?

The answers that I am inputting are from my interactive instance because if I SSH to the student account on the target then I do not have permission to view the config files.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

all those answers are from the target that you SSH into. what exactly is it asking you and what commands are you running?

Turns out it was just a problem with the target, once I refreshed the target the conf file showed up correctly :slight_smile:

yea you’ll see that a lot. if something seems like it’s acting fishy best bet is to just reset.
