Can anybody tell me why this happens ?
When I run “/usr/bin/sudo /usr/bin/journalctl -n5 -unostromo.service” this command in full screen terminal it gives me error(which is it just “cat” it and not run it in “less”)… But when I use small screen on terminal and run the exact same command it runs in “less” and I get to root. Why this weird stuff is happening ?
This is almost certainly because the file it is showing you is smaller than your screen, so it dumps its contents and exits.
ohh okay understood ! Can you tell me where is that config file ? so I can read its contents !
As almost everyone said before: enumeration is fundamental to understand the machine itself. Some common vulnerabilities to get the first step, then john and man are the keys (if something is not visible doesn’t means it does not exists)
For root: some really fun pe; remember that size do matter here

Hey there, I found the /~d**** directory after reading the manual, and the .h**d file and had decrypted it. I did also read about creating an .htacc file to allow basic auth, but kind of stuck here now to get to user. Any hints?

The good news is that this is a retired box so you can be less vague and use a walkthrough for anything you are stuck on.
You dont need to create the .htaccess file, you can read the existing one.
i just did this box, nice one! why you have to adjust your screen size is because journalctl uses the less command to show the content. (see the description in gtfobins). if your screen is small you have a change to interrupt the output and throw in a command of your own if the screen is large, there is no change to interrupt and all the content will be displayed and the file file close. i have seen this behaviour also with some other ctf style boxes!
