I’m completely confused by this challenge. I’m having the same problem Maco had earlier in this thread–I only get an empty folder when I extract the archive. I tried it in 2 different Linux distros and Windows 10 VM, same result. And the sha hash says it’s ok. How am I not getting an image or anything?
I initially had the same problem, it is part of the challenge.
Everyone is talking about an image. When I extract Hawking I get a folder. Even when I use file hawking it still says it’s a directory. Can’t convert it either. Any help?

That is really really weird. Try downloading the file again.
I get the same, Get an archive called archive with another inside called hawking, archive, both show no data Any advice?

As said, this is part of the challenge. The image is hidden in a creative way.
You might have success trying different archive programs though, since they might not fall for the trick…

If you found something in the HTB format (e.g HTB{your_flag_here}) that means that you found the encoding; now, the only thing you need to do, is search for an alternative tool to decode it. Just google an other online decoder and you will be golden. What you are looking for, is in the first page of the google results.Oh that site is a goldmine, I knew I never should have let these buzztards get me down, thank you very much, challenge solved!
can you PM me the site? tried soo many sites with decoders, still stuck!

never mind. got it.
Hi! I have got the flag, i am sure, becasuse i have used two differents decoders. The firts gave me two cypher strings and the second one gave a 14 mode of a famous cypher method. When i try to submit the flag it doesn’t work!
Is anyone available to confirm the flag if I PM you what I have? I have tried submitting it and it will not accept
iv decoded the message to plain text but theres no indication of the flag
Can see why this could be tricky for some users. Grabbed this challenge this weekend. Pm if you need a nudge/hint for any part.
Quite an interesting one brings back old memories from previous challenges… When I was trying to crack this I really wanted a Caesar salad
Let me know if you need any help!
On Windows, I got an empty folder instead of the image.
Try again in a Linux VM. Worked for me using unzip on ParrotOS.
If you still get a folder, try a different unzipping tool
HOW THE ■■■■ DID HE MAKE THIS?! That’s the real question. I solved it but I’m stumped as to what sorts of magic incantations that he utilized to create this mystical challenge.
Actually this was very easy, the most difficult part was getting the image (and was easy because I simply used more than one unzip tools until I found one that was not fooled by the trick)
That was fun, my first attempt at steg. Glad it was a simple one
hahha fun!
