Finally got root. Thanks to @Shivang over on Discord for the hints

User: Dont overthink it, follow the trail. You dont need to install anything else to read one of the files.
Root: Make sure you know the full path of root.txt. Look up the rs command, as well as the sa**d parameter. My mistake was to not give the command an actual ‘thing’ to run, and was trying to ‘cd’ into a particular folder.

After giving up this box several months ago, I retaked it and owned user and root in fraction of the time spent the first time in enumerating!!!
When you get stuck, take two steps back and try again later in time with a fresh mind. (It’s not just for this machine, but for everything in this life!)

Finally got root after hours of trying tonnes of different r**** commands. For some reason I could not get cmd to work though. Resorted to PoSl and got it first time. Any input to where I was going wrong would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, im new to the boxes i’m not getting the process perfectly. the only thing i have done so far is anonymous login with ftp. No clue so far. Can anyone give me an advice for this.

Hey. I am at the root part. I try to read the file and redirect it’s output with r***s but it failed for million times. Can anybody give me hint from PM?

Struggling with privesc. I haven’t done a lot of Windows stuff. I keep reading loads of comments talking about checking Desktop folders, but the user directory that starts with e keeps getting deleted by someone I think. I saw it once and never again. I’ve tried resetting. Is this going to prevent me from getting root? Sorry if this is too spoilery, I’m just hitting a brick wall here.

Hi guys! Im new here and so far everything goes ok. Unfortunately im stuck on rs. I tried everything, every possible syntax, I always get nothing. I tried use .b files also. Strange thing is that in cy I dont have any credentials so /s***s doesnt work. Im stuck since 5 days (dont laugh…). Can someone PM me, and give a hint. I dont want to give up this machine without root.

Hint: For me at least, getting an admin shell and then reading the flag was much easier than just reading the flag.

Finally shell root, the problem was how to redirect the output and happily achieved.

I have read every bit of the rs man pages. Even thought about how a lazy sysad may set this up to make it easier. I have tried every variation of rs to make it work, but I’m not getting no where. I have been at it for over 7 hours. Someone please PM me with some help! Also i’ve read through almost all 31 pages of this thread and still cant piece it together. I’ve also tried running in windows cmd prompt. Am I supposed to be trying to r****s on the A*****.exe file or the other *.ino file that is referenced in the *.lnk?
